Part of the series: Semblance of Self
Semblance of Self is a series of paintings that look at daily encounters as spaces to shed light on perception, truthisms and how we view ourselves in the physical world that we inhabit. I see realism as a series of abstract forms and shapes put together in ways that are recognizable. Here, I reconfigure the space that reality, perception and memory occupy.
I have been painting my father’s flag for many years. It is one of the few things I have left to remember him by. In these paintings, the flag becomes an emotive space of contradictory feelings about home, society, frustration and hope.
This work is signed on the back and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. There is only one of these, no prints available.
